Italian furniture company Promemoria was established in 1988 by Romeo Sozzi in Valmadrera, on the shores of Lake Como. Originally a restorer of antiques, Sozzi now oversees a team of family members, and a network of regional craftspeople dedicated to both traditional carpentry and contemporary creativity. The substantial woods used to make Promemoria’s furniture—such as maple, walnut, and oak—are frequently combined with opulent textiles from Italian mills, bronze, leather, and glass. Every piece is painstakingly crafted with attention to accuracy and durability, and lacquering and patination are done in-house. The Bilou Bilou chair, first introduced in 1995, is emblematic of the brand. It has a hand-carved wooden frame, luxurious linen or velvet upholstery, and unique bronze accents.
